ELON, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fell on the road 5-2 to Elon in non-conference play on Tuesday afternoon in Elon, N.C. The loss drops Coastal to 4-4 on the season, while with the win Elon improved to 11-3 on the year.
 
The Chanticleers found themselves down 1-0 in the match after the Phoenix posted wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to pick up the doubles point.
 
Coastal tied the match score at 1-1 with a dominating 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles by Neil O'Connor only to see Elon pull back out in front at 2-1 with a straight-set win on court No. 4.
 
The visiting Chants again tied the match up 2-2, as Daiki Tanabe recorded a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win at No. 5.
 
However, the next three matches would go in favor of the Phoenix who came away with the 5-2 match win.
 
CCU (4-4) will return home to host Campbell in a rescheduled match on Thursday, April 1. First serve is set for 2 p.m. ET at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex.
