CONWAY, S.C. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team will open up the 2021 Sun Belt Men's Tennis Championship Tournament versus Georgia Southern (No. 5) in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 23, with a first serve scheduled for 10 a.m. ET from Peachtree City, Ga.
The Chanticleers enter the matchup with an 8-8 overall record and 1-2 Sun Belt record. The Chants enter the conference championship tournament having won their last match against The Citadel (April 16).
The Chants are led by fifth-year senior
Bastien Huon who has a 9-4 overall record in singles action, while senior
Pyry Hyrkkonen enters the tournament on a two-match winning streak in singles play.
Georgia Southern enters the meeting with an 11-9 record on the year and a conference record of 0-4.
Coastal and Georgia Southern have met only eight times in men's tennis action. The Chants hold a 5-3 advantage against the Eagles. The teams last met on March 14, 2021, in Conway, S.C. which the Chants came out on top by a score of 4-1. The Chants are on a three-match winning streak against the Eagles.
Coastal is 1-3 all-time in Sun Belt Tournament play having defeated Georgia Southern 4-3 in the quarterfinals round of the 2019 conference tournament.
The winner of the match will advance to the semifinals to play top-seeded Georgia State on Saturday, April 24.
