Chanticleers move to 6-3 in Sun Belt play with the win

CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina women's tennis bounced back from a home loss on Saturday to South Alabama to blank the Troy Trojans 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, S.C.

Coastal moves to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in Sun Belt play with the win, while Troy falls to 6-9 overall and 2-5 in league action.

The Chanticleers took an early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point in three very competitive matches. The duo of Valentina Urelli and Kristyna Jurkova defeated Shevita Aulana and Kristina Kukaras 6-2 on court No. 3, while the team of Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins held on for a 7-6 victory on court No. 2 over Michelle Ncube and Andrea Widing.

The match at the top doubles spot was tied at 6-6 when the point was decided in favor of the Chants.

Senior Jessie Mount slid into the lineup and posted a dominant 6-1, 6-3 straight-set win over Widing at No. 6 to push the lead to 2-0.

CCU's De Samucewicz followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3 over Ncube before Jurkova put the match away with a 6-3, 7-5 victory on court No. 2.

The Chants will hit the road for the next two matches, as CCU will take on N.C. Central on Tuesday, April 6, and Appalachian State on Wednesday, April 7.
