CLINTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fell on the road to Presbyterian 4-1 on Friday afternoon in Clinton, S.C.
CCU falls to 7-6 with the loss while Presbyterian moves to 9-6 with the win.
Coastal took a 1-0 lead with the duo of
Pyry Hyrkkonen and
Diego Giraldo defeating the Presbyterian duo of Daniel Stenger and Sebastian Dominguez 6-2 on court one.
Daiki Tanabe and Bastein Huon followed by defeating the Blue Hose pair of Max Benson and Alberto Conde 6-4 on court two to secure the doubles point for the men in teal.
The Blue Hose then posted a 6-0, 6-3 straight-set win at No. 1 singles to level the match at 1-1.
The Blue Hose then followed with straight-set wins at No. 6 and No. 4 by a similar score of 6-4, 6-2 to take the lead at 3-1.
An injury to Huon at No. 1 forced him to retire to allow the Blue Hose to pick up the 4-1 win.
Both of the unfinished matches at No. 2 and No. 3 were close when the match was called.
The Chanticleers will return home to take on Troy on Sunday, April 11, at 10 a.m. ET.
