Kochevar Named Women's Golf Assistant Coach

CONWAY – Coastal Carolina University women's golf coach Katie Quinney has announced the addition of Brooke Kochevar as the Chanticleers assistant coach. Kochevar rejoins Quinney and the program after playing at CCU from 2012-14.

Following her playing days, Kochevar began her coaching career as the assistant women's golf coach at Benedictine University over the past two seasons.

"I am thrilled Brooke will be joining our program," Quinney said. "It is always very special to bring back a former player and it feels like perfect timing. Brooke has shown a tremendous work ethic in pursuing her post-graduate degree while also coaching and continuing to teach golf. Her passion for golf and competition will be infectious, and I look forward to watching her support and develop our players moving forward."

Kochevar played at Coastal from 2012-14. After redshirting her freshman season, she opened the 2013 fall season by being named the Big South Freshman of the Week (Oct. 10) following a third-place finish at the CSU Wendy's Invitational. She carded a 54-hole score of 223 (71-76-76), helping the Chants to a second-place finish. She also qualified for the final USGA Women's Public Links Championship in 2014.

Following the 2014 season, she transferred to the University of Maryland where she competed in two Big 10 championships with the Terps. She completed her collegiate golf career and graduated in 2016 with a degree in Sociology.

Internationally, she played in the 2015 British Women's Stroke Play and also played in the 2016 British Women's Amateur. In 2019, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur.

Originally from Glen Ellyn, Ill., she played at Glenbard West High School where she received all-state honors as a senior after finishing seventh at the Illinois State Championships. As a junior, she won sectionals and moved on to finish 11th overall at the state championships. At the time of her graduation, she held school and conference records for the lowest score through nine holes (30) and held the Glenbard record for lowest score in a round (71).
