CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina football's Tuesday morning practice session marked practice No. 12 of fall camp, marking the halfway point of the preseason with 12 more practices remaining leading up the season-opening home contest versus The Citadel on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
 
The No. 22/24 preseason nationally-ranked Chanticleers returned to full pads on Tuesday morning which saw rain throughout the day due to impacts of Tropical Storm Fred.
 
The Chants adjusted the schedule to go an hour earlier, taking the teal turf on the game field in Brooks Stadium at 7:30 a.m. ET for a total of 20 periods over the two-hour practice.
 
CCU followed two periods of stretch with position work before jumping into special teams. Following a break, the Chants returned to group work, going offense versus defense in pass drills while the two lines worked against each other in the trenches.
 
Four periods of team work followed as the Chants went 11-v-11 on offense and defense before wrapping up the morning with individual skills work.
 
The practice ended with freshman offensive lineman Tom Bambrick catching a high punt in the rain to cancel the last period of conditioning and send the team into the locker room.
 
Classes for the 2021 fall academic semester begin on Wednesday, Aug. 18, pushing the Chanticleers' practice schedule from the morning to the afternoon.
 
The season opener is one of seven home games for the Chanticleers this season. The home schedule also includes a program first, as Coastal will host the first-ever Power 5 opponent on the "Surf Turf" inside Brooks Stadium as the Kansas Jayhawks out of the Big 12 Conference make a visit on Friday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
