Women's Golf Set to Open Season at Lady Paladin Invite

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team begins its quest for a second consecutive and third overall Sun Belt Conference Championship beginning with its opening match at the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Furman University-hosted event is set to be played Sept. 24-26 at the Greenville Golf Club.
The course layout is a par-72 laid out over a 6,234-yard course. The Invite will consist of 18 holes on each of the three days of competition.
Joining CCU and host Furman in the 13-team field will be Augusta, Daytona State, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Memphis, North Florida, Stetson, Western Kentucky, Wofford, and UNC Wilmington.
The Chanticleers have played in the event several times with some solid finishes. CCU has top-10 finishes in each of the last four times they have played the Lady Paladin Invitational. In 2019 CCU finished ninth, in 2018 the Chants had a second-place finish and also finished ninth in both 2015 and 2014.
"This has been a really great first four weeks of practice," head coach Katie Quinney said. "I have seen tremendous improvement in all of the girls, and they have worked extremely hard. I am looking forward to see how they can carry this improvement into the fall season. We have played in this event multiple times and have had some success. I can tell the team is excited about getting back out into a competitive event and I am looking forward to see how they start the season off."
Quinney has set her lineup for the event led by seniors Tiffany Arafi and Caitlin Evans-Brand. The reigning Sun Belt Conference individual champion Sophia Carlsen will also be in the lineup as will junior Jenjira Jinangkul, who missed last season. Freshman Sara Sarrion will make her initial appearance in a CCU uniform and another freshman, Isabella Spinazze, will also see her first CCU action and will be playing as an individual.
