CONWAY, S.C – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team was held to just six shots on Sunday afternoon, as the Chanticleers were handed a 6-1 defeat by the unbeaten ULM Warhawks at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
Coastal Carolina drops to 3-5-1 overall and 1-2-0 in Sun Belt play, while ULM improves to 7-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
The Warhawks tallied their first goal of the match in the 21st minute, as Mara Grutkamp recorded her second goal of the season as she connected on a pass from Taylor Henry. Just six minutes later, ULM tallied a set piece goal as Ermelinda Pantaleo headed in a corner kick from Throni Zerva. Courtney Marten recorded her first of three goals on the afternoon to put the visitors up 3-0 just before the halftime break.
Less than a minute into the second half, Marten netted her second goal of the contest before recording her second hattrick of the season nearly 10 minutes later, putting ULM up 5-0.
Coastal's
Alicia Hansson recorded her first goal of the season in the 68th minute, as she connected on a pass from
Maria Folgero to put the Chants on the board 5-1. ULM added its final goal of the afternoon in the 80th minute.
CCU junior goalkeeper
Ky Hudson turned in five saves on the afternoon.
ULM ended the day with a 21-6 shooting advantage and an 11-3 advantage in shots on frame.

Mackenzie Cherry, and
Hansson each recorded one shot for the match with just one shot being on goal for the Chanticleers. CCU found the advantage in saves at 6-2 and finished tied in corner kicks with the Warhawks at 6-6.
Coastal Carolina returns to the road and gets set to face Georgia State on Friday, Oct.1, before facing South Alabama on Sunday, Oct 3.
