Tuesday’s award marks first Player of Week for CCU in C-USA
DALLAS, TX – (RV) Coastal Carolina University's Alvaro Garcia-Pasqual has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Benalmadena, Spain native has made an immediate impact for the Chanticleers, starting all three matches so far this season.
Garcia-Pasqual logged 70 minutes and recorded his first career brace against the defending national champions and then No. 7 nationally-ranked Marshall on Saturday afternoon in CCU's 3-3 double-overtime draw. The freshman notched the first equalizer in the 20th minute, connecting with the bottom corner of the net.
Following a Thundering Herd goal in the 74th minute, Garcia-Pasqual earned his second goal of the day four minutes later in the 78th minute as he connected on a pass from Emile Rzepecki to tie the match at 3-all.
The Chants now get set to face C-USA and in-state foe South Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 11 in Columbia. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
