Chanticleers will travel to North Carolina to compete in the regional championship event

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team will return to action this week at the 2022 ITA Division I Carolina Women's Regional Championships hosted by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Oct. 13-17.

The tournament, which will include both open doubles and singles play, consists of student-athletes from teams all across both North and South Carolina.

Playing in the open singles main draw will be Victoire De Samucewicz, as the senior went 2-1 last weekend in singles play at the Lynn Stevens Memorial Invitational, posting a win at the top flight over Zoe Cauthen of Charleston Southern and a victory at the No. 2 flight over Maggie Pate of Appalachian State.

Representing the Chanticleers in the qualifying for the main singles draw will be Anna Babayan, Tatum Burger, and Lilie Steryous. Babayan went 3-0 in singles play last weekend on her home court with two wins at the No. 5 flight and one at the No. 6 spot. Burger scored a pair of wins at the No. 4 flight versus Queens University of Charlotte and Charleston Southern on Oct. 7, while Steryous, who went 1-2 at the Lynn Stevens Memorial Invitational last weekend, was a perfect 3-0 in the Chants' first fall event at Charleston Southern on September.

In the singles B draw, the Chants will send out Kata Foldeak, Jesse Hollins, Megan Hopton, and Isabella Weatherhead. Hollins is 5-1 in singles action thus far this fall, while Foldeak, Hopton, and Weatherhead all have three singles wins to date.

In doubles play, the head coach Catherine Hewitt will send out the four pairings she has used all fall in Steryous and Hollins, Foldeak and De Samucewicz, Burger and Babayan, and Hopton and Weatherhead.

Play will start on Thursday, Oct. 13, and go through Monday, Oct. 17. The tournament central page can be found HERE.
