Batrouni and Hauser receive weekly honors
NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina sophomore goalkeeper Joey Batrouni and freshman midfielder Maurice Hauser have been named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
The honor marks the second conference weekly award. He helped lead the Chants to a 1-0-1 record on the week, including a scoreless road draw at then No. two-nationally-ranked Kentucky in which he picked up four saves in his third shutout of the season. He followed that with a three-save performance in CCU's 2-1 conference victory over Old Dominion.
Â
Batrouni now has 38 saves on the season and has posted a 1.76 goals against average and a 0.655 save percentage.
Â
Hauser picks up the weekly honor after scoring three points in leading the Chanticleers to a 2-1 victory over Old Dominion. Hauser scored a goal and had an assist in the conference win. His goal with less than a minute left in the first half gave the Chants a 2-0 lead, which proved huge in the home win.
