• In 1999, football was approved to be added to Coastal in 2003.

• Almost 8,000 fans packed Brooks Stadium on Sept. 6, 2003, for the inaugural game of the Chanticleer NCAA I-AA football squad, as CCU used a 97-yard drive to score with seven seconds to play to defeat Newberry 21-14.

RESERVED TICKETS AND PARKING SOLD OUT FOR APP STATE ON NOV. 3
• For the third time this season, a Coastal Carolina football game has been SOLD OUT as reserved tickets and parking for the Thursday night primetime Sun Belt Conference home contest versus Appalachian State on Nov. 3 at Brooks Stadium are SOLD OUT. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

CONFERENCE EXPECTATIONS
• In the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Football Preseason Coaches Poll, the Chants were picked to finish second in the East Division behind defending 2021 Sun Belt Champion East Division Champions Appalachian State.

• The Chanticleers garnered two first-place votes and a total of 77 points to place ahead of Georgia State (68 points), Marshall (62), Georgia Southern (35), James Madison (31), and Old Dominion (25).

• Louisiana (95) was picked to win the West Division, receiving 12 first-place votes.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERING HERD
• Marshall enters the Homecoming Weekend at 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the Sun Belt Conference under second-year head coach Charles Huff.

The Herd are also tied for first in the Sun Belt in total turnovers forced (17) and interceptions (12).

• The defense has allowed just 11 touchdowns all year, including only three via the rushing attack, and is holding their opponents to only 78.1 rushing yards per game on the year.

• It's been a total team effort on defense for the Thundering Herd, as six different players have 20 or more tackles on the year, while 15 players have recorded double-digit tackles overall led by the trio of Abraham Beauplan (46), Eli Neal (44), and Charlie Gray (43).

• Marshall's offense is averaging only 388.6 total yards of offense per game this season but is second in the Sun Belt with an average of 204.0 rushing yards per game.

• Running back Khalan Laborn leads the way on the ground with 1,002 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on the season, which both lead the Sun Belt Conference and rank in the top five nationally.
