Chants pick up second honor of the season
NEW ORLEANS – Coastal Carolina redshirt senior Peter Dearle has been named the Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Dearle was a key piece of the CCU backline that helped the Chanticleers draw with then-No. 3 nationally-ranked Marshall 0-0 in a Sun Belt Conference matchup on Thursday, Sept. 29, and earn another point in the conference standings.
The Nottingham, England, native was one of just five Chants to play all 90 minutes against The Herd.
Despite Marshall taking 16 shots, Dearle and the Coastal Carolina backline allowed just four shots-on-goal, all of which were saved.
The Chants return to the road and face off against Georgia State on Friday, Oct. 7, in Atlanta.
