Chanticleers to Travel to College of Charleston on Friday

Coastal Carolina looks for its first road win of the year

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team (2-4) will return to the road on Friday, Dec. 2, as the Chanticleers will travel to in-state opponent College of Charleston (2-3). The opening tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
 
The two teams have met 47 times dating back to the 1974-75 season with the Cougars leading the all-time series at 33-14. The Chants dropped the last meeting 72-70 at home in November of 2017.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
Coastal cruised to its second win of the season with an 87-56 win over South Carolina State on Wednesday as the Chants earned their first NCAA DI win of the 2022-23 season.
 
The Chanticleers rallied from a 12-0 deficit, as graduate student Aja Blount, fellow returner senior Deaja Richardson, and Amanda Barney led the offense with 23, 16, and 13 points, respectively. Blount recorded her 20th career double-double by also grabbing 11 rebounds in the contest.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
 
CCU is averaging 72.5 points per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 36.3 from three-point range. Defensively, the Chanticleers have allowed 68.5 points, while Coastal's opponents are shooting 42.3 percent from the floor. The Chanticleers are winning the rebound battle on the season at 231-193.
 
Coastal is led by Blount with 17.7 points per game, while fellow returners Arin Freeman and Angie Juste-Jean have chipped in with 10.0 and 9.8 points per game, respectively. Newcomer Barney, who has scored in double digits three times in the five games she has appeared, is averaging 9.8 points per game. Blount is the team's leading rebounder with 55 boards on the year, while Freeman and Miriam Recarte have grabbed 27 and 24 rebounds, respectively.
 
ABOUT COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
 
The College of Charleston Cougars enters the matchup with a 2-3 overall record on the season. As a team, the Cougars are averaging 74.8 points per game and shooting 39.9 percent from the floor, including shooting 30.6 percent from three-point range. Defensively, CofC is allowing its opponents to shoot 43.0 percent from the floor for 68.0 points per contest while losing the rebound battle at 216-199.
 
The Cougars are led by Jenna Annecchiarico with 25.0 points per game, while Jada Logan, Jazmyn Stone, and Jaila Roberts all are averaging in double digits. Roberts is leads the team with 20 assists.
 
 Adaora Onwumelu is the top rebounder for the College of Charleston, grabbing 36 rebounds on the year with Logan and Roberts having grabbed more than 25 rebounds each.
