CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will be back on the road as the Chants travel to Vermillion, S.D., to face the South Dakota Coyotes on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. ET at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. The game was originally scheduled to be played at 9 p.m. ET, but has been moved up two hours.
The Chants (5-4) will look to pick up their second road win of the season and their second consecutive win after picking up a 102-39 victory over Regent University on Saturday, Dec. 10, in head coach
Cliff Ellis' 900th career win.
The contest will mark the second time the two teams have met on the hardcourt this season, as the Coyotes traveled to Conway back on Nov. 26, where the Chants scored seven points over the last 42 seconds to pull out a hard-fought 66-59 victory.
The Chants are averaging 78.8 points per game this season and have four players averaging double digits led by
Jomaru Brown and his 16.3 points per game average. He is coming off a 20-point outing in the Chants' win over Regent.
Essam Mostafa is averaging 12.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game this season. He has six double-doubles already this season and has totaled 28 overall for his career. He continues his trek up the career records list at CCU, as the junior is 139 points away from becoming the 24th player in CCU history to score 1,000 career points. He also is ninth in CCU career rebounds with 636 and also ninth in blocked shots with 68.
Linton Brown is averaging 11.8 points per game and leads the team with 17 three-point field goals, while sophomore
Josh Uduje is averaging 10.9 points per game.
South Dakota enters the game at 5-6 overall and has a 3-1 record at home. Paul Bruns leads the Yotes' in scoring averaging at 11.7 points per game. A.J. Plitzuweit is scoring at an 11.3 points per game clip, while Kruz Perrott-Hunt is averaging 10.7 points per game.
