CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's basketball team will return to the road for the second consecutive game as the Chants travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to face another in-state rival in Wofford College on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. ET, at the Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The Chants (4-3) are looking for their second consecutive road victory, after beating Winthrop, 86-81, this past Saturday in Rock Hill, S.C. The Terriers (5-4) are coming off a close 65-62 loss at Vanderbilt and will be looking to stay undefeated (5-0) at home.
The two in-state programs are within four hours of each other but have not met on the hardcourt as much as one would think. This will only be the seventh meeting between the two programs, with Wofford holding a 4-2 lead in the series.
In this series, every game has been close, as the average margin of victory of the six previous contests has been only 6.3 points per game.
CCU will enter the game with four players that average double digits in scoring.
Jomaru Brown has scored in double figures in six of the Chants' seven games and is coming off a 16-point effort at Winthrop. He leads CCU in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game.
Redshirt junior
Essam Mostafa is next in scoring averaging 14.4 points per game. On top of his scoring, Mostafa leads the Sun Belt Conference and is seventh nationally in rebounding, averaging 11.3 per game. He has a team and conference-best five double-doubles, which is also second nationally.
Linton Brown has been a nice addition to the Chants scoring this season. The transfer enters the game averaging 12.7 points per game and is coming off a team-high 17 points at Winthrop. He leads the team with 16 three-pointers on the season and is knocking those down at a 40 percent clip.
Sophomore
Josh Uduje is averaging 11.6 points per game this season. He is also the team's leader at the free throw line, knocking down just over 94 percent of his charity tosses.
Wofford is led in scoring by B.J. Mack's 16.2 points per game and Jackson Paveletzke's 15.2 points per game.
