CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will welcome South Alabama and Troy to the HTC Center in Conway, S.C., to conclude the Chants 2021-22 regular season. CCU will host USA on Thursday, Feb. 24, before hosting the Trojans on Saturday, Feb. 26.
The Chanticleers seek to get back into the win column to improve on their 13-9 overall and 3-8 Sun Belt Conference records, while the Jaguars currently sit at 8-15 on the year and 2-8 in conference action. The Trojans will travel to Appalachian State before paying a visit to Conway.
Coastal Carolina is 10-3 at home on the season, while the Jaguars (2-7) and the Trojans (6-6) are a combined 8-13 on the road this season.
COASTAL vs. SOUTH ALABAMA HISTORY
The early (Jan. 1) Sun Belt meeting between the Chanticleers and South Alabama was canceled due to COVID-19 issues within the Jaguars program. South Alabama completed a four-game sweep over Coastal Carolina last year for an 8-4 advantage over Coastal Carolina in the overall series. The Jaguars gained a 74-53 victory over the Chants in the first-ever meeting between the two schools in December of 1995.
COASTAL vs. TROY HISTORY
The two teams will meet for the 13th time with Troy owning a 9-3 series advantage over the Chanticleers, as Coastal dropped the opening SBC matchup on Dec. 29, 2021, by a score of 91-80. The Trojans have a 6-1 record on their home court versus the Chanticleers compared to a 3-2 record in Conway, S.C.

Senior forward
Aja Blount leads the Chants with an average of 18.6 points per game, while true freshman
Angie Juste-Jean and
Arin Freeman are averaging 8.9 and 8.4 points per contest, respectively. Transfer junior
Blayre Shultz is leading the team with 52 assists, while Freeman has aided her teammates 50 times. This season, the Chants are averaging 71.6 points per game while shooting 42.6 percent from the hardwood.
On the defensive end of the floor, Blount is the team's top rebounder having grabbed 197 on the season to average 9.0 boards per game, while
Janeen Camp is second on the team with 6.5 rebounds per game.
Janeen Camp has blocked 43 shots on the season, as the Chants are allowing just 59.1 points per game and holding opponents to a 36.1 shooting percent.
ABOUT SOUTH ALABAMA
The Jaguars enter play averaging 61.0 points per game while hitting 36.2 percent of their shots. South Alabama's offense is led by the trio of Jaylin Powell (12.2 ppg), Nadia Howard (9.5 ppg), and Dee Haymer (8.4 ppg), as they all are averaging over 8.0 points per game this season.
Defensively, USA is allowing their opponents to shoot 40.9 percent from the field and score 68.2 points per game. Powell and Mahogany Vaught lead the team with 4.7 and 4.1 rebounds per game, respectively, while Vaught (39), Howard (34), Kiana Anderson (28), and Tyrielle Williams (24) lead the Jaguars' defense with 20-plus steals apiece.
ABOUT TROY
Troy is averaging 79.3 points per game on the year while shooting 38.0 percent from the floor overall. The Trojans' offense is led by Felmas Koranga with 12.9 points per game while Amber Leggett is chipping in with 12.7 points per contest. Jasmine Robinson leads Troy with 113 assists while Sharonica Hartsfield has aided teammates 63 times.
Defensively, the Trojans are allowing their opponents to shoot 37.5 percent from the field while allowing 68.9 points per game. Koranga and Leggett are the top rebounders grabbing 287 and 173 rebounds, respectively, while the duo of Hartsfield and Koranga leads the team with 41 and 39 steals apiece.
