Box Score CONWAY, S.C. – As a weather system made its way across the eastern portion of the United States, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team raced against the clock but blanked the South Carolina State Bulldogs 6-0 on Friday. The match was shortened to singles play due to the threat of inclement weather.
The Chants caught fire early and maintained the momentum throughout the match. On court five,
Daiki Tanabe trailed Ivan Pauluychenko by a 5-2 margin in the opening frame. Tanabe responded by winning an astounding 10 of the next 11 games to defeat Pauluychenko by a 7-6 (7-1), 6-0 tally.
Federico Garnier and Benjamin Niv battled in a back and forth contest on court two, and emerged with a 7-5, 7-5 straight-set victory over Niv, while in the top flight,
Bastien Huon rallied from a multi-game deficit in set two to notch a 6-3, 7-5 win over Haflinger Rostislav.
Niccolo Rossi clinched the match for the men in teal on court four with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Omer Gorgun.
With the win intact,
Neil O'Connor faced off against Diego Araluz in the sixth flight and earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory, while in the final match of the day,
Diego Giraldo came back from one set down to pick up a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 triumph over Aissa Benchakroun on court No. 3.
In their next contest, the Chants (6-6) will face the Radford Highlanders on Sunday, March 13, at 1 p.m. ET.
