MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had solid showings during day one of the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Friday.
The Chants had six members of the women's team finish in the top 10 across four events. In the 100-meter dash, CCU swept the podium as
Shani'a Bellamy took the top spot with a time of 12.27 seconds.
Camryn Lorick and Amaya Gaddy claimed second and third places with times of 12.67 and 12.75 seconds, respectively.
Lauralyn Clifford finished fourth in the hammer with a throw of 45.44 meters.
Nikki Boon notched an eighth-place finish in the javelin with a 39.96-meter throw, while
Ashley Dalleske finished sixth in the pole vault with a height of 2.90 meters.
On the men's side,
David Ejumeta claimed the top spot in the long jump event with a distance of 7.11 meters.
Garrett Bivens earned first place honors in the 5000-meter event, finishing in 15:00.93.
Jake Heydon (2nd, 58.65 meters) and
Aaron Pierce (9th, 50.17 meters) each tallied a top 10 finish in the javelin throw, while
Michael Martello (14th, 40.32 meters) notched a top 15 finish in the hammer throw.
Four Chanticleers earned a top 10 spot in the 1500-meter race led by
Gage Nielsen's fourth-place finish with a time of 4:12.89.
Tomas Duncan (4:14.04) claimed sixth, followed by
Jack Benoit (4:18.68).
Kaden Buchler capped things off with a ninth-place finish with a time of 4:20.05.
Jaquon Williams earned a spot in the 110-meter hurdles final by crossing the finish line in 14.94 seconds, which put him in second place during his qualifying race.
