Chants will face a strong 16-team field
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will not have a lot of time off, as the Chanticleers will be back in action March 12-13 at the 16th edition of the Valspar Augusta Invitational. Augusta University will host the event at Forest Hills Golf Club located in Augusta, Ga.
The Forest Hills Golf Club is laid out over 6,200 yards and is scored as a par-72. The invitational will feature 54 holes over the two days with 36 holes played on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday.
The Chanticleers are coming off their best round of the season, when they finished the River Landing Classic with a third-round, four-under 288, this past Tuesday.
Half of the teams in the field are ranked among the top-50 teams in the nation, according to the latest rankings released by Golfstat. Alabama leads the list of ranked teams coming in a No. 9. Other top-50 teams include South Carolina (No. 4), Florida State (No. 14), Virginia Tech (No. 23), Ole Miss (No. 25), Purdue (No. 38), Miami (No. 41), and Furman (No. 45).
Other teams in the field joining CCU and host Augusta are Georgia Southern, Memphis, San Diego State, Minnesota, South Florida, and Tennessee.
Looking to build off their third-round momentum from the River Landing Classic, head coach Katie Quinney will have the same lineup from the previous event in Sara Sarrion, Caitlin Evans-Brand, Sophia Carlsen, Jenjira Jinangkul, and Tiffany Arafi.
