CONWAY, S.C. – On a chilly Sunday afternoon along the coast, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team cranked up the heat against the Radford Highlanders, as the Chants struck early and used that momentum to pick up a 5-2 victory in the non-conference clash.
 
In doubles action, CCU won two of the three matches.  On court two, Niccolo Rossi and Bastien Huon rolled to a 6-1 win over Guilherme Severin and Konstantinos Raptis. 
 
The third court decided the doubles point, where the tandem of Neil O'Connor and Guilherme Toresan won a thriller over Aditya Balsekar and Robert Hagen 7-6 (9-7).
 
The Chanticleers opened singles play by rattling off three straight wins.  On court six, O'Connor notched a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win over Hagen.  In the top flight, Huon rallied from an early deficit to defeat Demis Taramonlis by a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 margin.  Federico Garnier clinched the victory for the men in teal with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 triumph over Severin in a three-set thriller.
 
The final showdown occurred on court five between Rossi and Raptis, where Rossi won a barn burner in three frames by a tally of 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4.
 
Next up for the Chants (7-6) is a home match against the Elon Phoenix on Tuesday, March 15 at 1 p.m. ET.
