Box Score STATESBORO, Ga. – Sunday afternoon marked the start of Sun Belt Conference play for the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team as they faced off against the Georgia Southern Eagles.  The Chants fell behind early, but answered the bell and earned a 4-3 road victory.
 
The host Eagles (5-5, 0-1 SBC) staked themselves to an early 1-0 advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches, as CCU's lone win came from Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins with a 6-4 victory in the second flight over Elizabeth Goines and Sonja Keranen.
 
Georgia Southern built a 3-0 advantage after two singles matches, but that's when the tide turned in favor of CCU.  Anna Babayan kickstarted the rally by defeating Paula Hijos in straight sets 6-4, 7-5 on court four.  Hollins, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, picked up a solid 7-6, 6-1 triumph over Goines in the sixth flight, which pulled the Chants within a point.
 
In the second flight, Mathilde Tranberg's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Silvia Martinez tied the match at three-all. 
 
It all came down to court three, where Paola Landin Lopez went up against Sophie Wagemaker.
 
All three sets were needed to complete the contest, but Lopez emerged with a 6-3, 6-7, 6-0 victory and completed the comeback for the Chanticleers.
 
The second of two straight road matches for the Chants (6-4, 1-0 SBC) takes place on Monday, March 14, when they travel to Atlanta for an 11:30 a.m. ET showdown with the Georgia State Panthers.
