Box Score CONWAY, S.C. – It was a tooth and nail battle on Tuesday afternoon as the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team collided with the Elon Phoenix in a regional showdown.  When the dust settled, Elon came away with a 4-3 win.
 
The Chants started strong with a pair of victories in doubles play as the duo of Guilherme Toresan and Neil O'Connor powered past Nicholas Campbell and Nicholas Condos 6-2 on the third court.  Bastien Huon and Niccolo Rossi doubled up Kyle Frankel and Ben Zipay 6-3 on court two, which gave CCU the point and a 1-0 match lead.
 
In singles play, the Chants extended their advantage to 2-0 after Daiki Tanabe notched a 6-2, 6-2 straight-set triumph over Joseph Daugherty on court six.  Later in the top flight, Huon faced an early deficit against Kyle Frankel, but came back to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, and tie the match at three-all.
 
But just a few moments later, the Phoenix (8-4) picked up the decisive point, as Campbell held off CCU's Federico Garnier on court two for a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 three-set win to give the Phoenix the 4-3 win.
 
Next up for CCU (7-7) is a home match against former Big South Conference foe Presbyterian College on Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m. ET.
