Coastal Baseball to Open Sun Belt Play at Home Versus ULM

Chants will host ULM for a three-game conference series this weekend

CONWAY, S.C. – For the first time since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2016-17, the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will open up Sun Belt Conference play at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium. The Chanticleers (10-6) will host the ULM Warhawks (4-11) for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series this weekend, March 18-20.
 
WEEKEND SCHEDULE
• Friday, March 18 – 4 p.m. ET (ESPN+/Hank 105.5 FM)
• Saturday, March 19 – 2 p.m. ET (ESPN+/WRNN Hot Talk 99.5 FM)
• Sunday, March 20 – 11 a.m. ET (ESPN+/Hank 105.5 FM)

ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play at 10-6 overall having its midweek contest at NC State on Wednesday rained out.
• The Chanticleers have won three of their last four games, all coming at home, including a doubleheader sweep of Xavier (March 13) last Sunday.
• Overall this season, the Chanticleers are 10-2 at home with a 2-1 loss to Kent State (Feb. 20) on Opening Weekend and a 9-5 defeat to the Musketeers (March 11) on Friday night.
 
ABOUT THE ULM WARHAWKS
• Picked to finish ninth overall in the Sun Belt in the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the ULM Warhawks are 4-11 overall to start this season.
• After winning the season opener 1-0 over Southern Illinois (Feb. 18), ULM dropped nine straight games before posting back-to-back wins over Northwestern State (March 9) and Nicholls (March 11).
• The Warhawks entered the weekend have won three out of their last five games, including taking two-of-three games on the road at Nicholls (March 11-13).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY
• The Chanticleers are a perfect 11-0 all-time versus the ULM on the diamond.
• CCU is 9-0 versus ULM in conference regular-season play and is 5-0 all-time at home versus the Warhawks at Springs Brooks Stadium.
• The last time the Chants and Warhawks met was in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament, as the Chants swept ULM 26-10 and 10-6 in back-to-back games to advance to the championship game.
 
SUN BELT CONFERENCE OPENING WEEKENDS
• For the first time since joining the Sun Belt in the 2017 season, the Chanticleers will open up Sun Belt Conference play at home at Springs Brooks Stadium.
• CCU is 6-4 all-time on Sun Belt Conference opening weekends, including two sweeps.

UNLIKE THE CHANTS IN 2021
• Last season was an uncharacteristic year for the Chanticleers when it comes to conference play, as the Chants were just 9-12 in Sun Belt Conference action on the year.
• The nine conference victories were the fewest by a CCU team since the Chants' recorded just five conference wins in the Big South in 1997, head coach Gary Gilmore's second year at CCU.
 
HOME. SWEET. HOME.
• Coastal enjoyed #ThePalace for the first eight games of the season and for the month of February.
• After playing four games on the road in the first week of March - at UNCW (March 2) and North Carolina (March 4-6) - the Chanticleers returned home for a four-game homestand versus Wake Forest (March 8) and a three-game weekend series against Xavier (March 11-13).
• CCU's three-game series with ULM (March 18-20) this weekend will be the final home games for the Chanticleers for the rest of March, as the Chants will not return home to hosting UNCW on April 5.
• The Chanticleers are 10-2 at home this season.
 
ROAD GAUNTLET
• The three-game weekend series versus ULM this weekend will be the last home game for the Chanticleers in nearly three weeks.
• Following this weekend at home, the Chanticleers will have an eight-game road trip which will see Coastal play at Clemson (March 22), Texas State (March 25-27), Wake Forest (March 30), and Arkansas State (April 1-3).
• The Chanticleers are 0-4 on the road this season.
