CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will open the 2022 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Conference Championship against Arkansas State on Wednesday, March 2, at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla.
The Chanticleers are 3-6 away from the HTC Center this season, while Arkansas State is 4-9 on the road and 0-1 in neutral site games.
COASTAL vs. ARKANSAS STATE HISTORY
In a series that began in 2017 when the Chanticleers joined the Sun Belt Conference, Coastal Carolina and A-State are split evenly at 4-4 in the overall series, with the Red Wolves earning the victory in the two teams' last meeting earlier in the season.
ABOUT COASTAL
Senior forward Aja Blount leads the Chants with an average of 18.7 points per game while true freshmen Arin Freeman and Angie Juste-Jean are averaging 8.8 and 8.6 points per contest, respectively. Blayre Shultz is leading the team with 2.3 assists per game, while Freeman is second with 2.2 assists per game. This season, the Chants are averaging 71.4 points per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the hardwood.
On the defensive end of the floor, Blount is the team's top rebounder having grabbed 233 on the season to average 9.7 boards per game, while Janeen Camp and Janae Camp is second on the team with 6.5 and 5.5 rebounds per game, respectively. Senior Janeen Camp has blocked 46 shots over the course of the season, as the Chants are allowing just 59.7 points per game and holding opponents to a 35.9 shooting percentage.

The Red Wolves enter play averaging 77.7 points per game on the year while hitting 42.4 percent of their shots. Arkansas State's offense is led by Jireh Washington (13.7ppg), Trinitee Jackson (11.8 ppg), Lauryn Pendleton (11.2 ppg), and Morgan Wallace (10.2 ppg), as the foursome are all averaging over 10.0 points per game this season.
Defensively, A-State is allowing its opponents to shoot 42.8 percent from the field and score 72.4 points per game. Jackson and Wallace lead the team with 8.6 and 8.0 rebounds per game, respectively, while the duo of Wallace (42) and Washington (40) lead the Red Wolves' defense with 40 or more steals apiece.
