Chanticleers Fall Against Mavericks at Home

CONWAY, S.C. – For the second time in three days, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team faced a Sun Belt foe from the Lone Star State, this time in the UT Arlington Mavericks. When the dust settled, the Chants fell to the Mavericks 4-2.
It was a good start for CCU as they picked up the doubles point with wins in two of the three matches. Jesse Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz held off Momoka Horiguchi and Tara Gorinsek 6-4 on court one. In the decisive match on court three, Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton rallied from an early deficit to defeat Sarina Reinertsen and Ioana Dumitrescu 7-5.
In singles play, the Mavericks claimed wins in four of the five completed matches. De Samcuewicz was the lone winner for the Chanticleers, as she notched a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory over Horiguchi on court No. 1.
Next up for the Chants (7-7, 2-2 SBC) is another home match in Sun Belt play, this time against Appalachian State on Wednesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. ET.
