Coastal Carolina women’s basketball to play on second day of SBC tournament
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will take on the Troy Trojans at the 2022 Hercules Tires Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship on Friday, March 4, at the Pensacola Bay Center in Pensacola, Fla. The opening tip is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET.
In the tournament opener, the Chanticleers raced to a 15-point win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Senior Aja Blount recorded 41 points to lead CCU to a first-round win in the SBC tournament. The 41 points are the most by a Sun Belt Conference player this season and the most by a Chant since former Chanticleer DJ Williams scored 51 against Troy on Feb. 13, 2020.
COASTAL vs. TROY HISTORY
The two teams will meet for the 14th time with Troy owning a 10-3 series advantage over the Chanticleers, as Coastal dropped the regular-season finale SBC matchup on Feb. 26, 2021, by a score of 71-58. Throughout the series, the two teams have yet to meet on a neutral court.
ABOUT COASTAL
Blount, a 2022 All-Sun Belt first-team selection, leads the Chants with an average of 19.6 points per game, while true freshmen Arin Freeman and Angie Juste-Jean are averaging 8.9 and 8.3 points per contest, respectively. Freeman and transfer junior Blayre Shultz are leading the team with 59 and 57 assists, respectively. This season, the Chants are averaging 72.1 points per game while shooting 42.6 percent from the hardwood.
On the defensive end of the floor, Blount is the team's top rebounder having grabbed 241 on the season to average 9.6 boards per game, while Janeen Camp is second on the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. Janeen Camp has blocked 49 shots on the season, as the Chants are allowing just 60.3 points per game and holding opponents to a 35.8 shooting percent.

Troy is averaging 79.3 points per game on the year while shooting 38.1 percent from the floor overall. The Trojans' offense is led by Felmas Koranga with 13.0 points per game, while Amber Leggett is chipping in with 12.2 points per contest. Jasmine Robinson leads Troy with 117 assists, while Sharonica Hartsfield has aided teammates 68 times.
