EL DORADO, Ark. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team shot a 30-over 606 (316-290) over the first two rounds of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship Sunday at the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark., and will move into the third round in eighth place.
The Sun Belt added the second round to Sunday afternoon in anticipation of bad weather that is supposed to move through the area on Monday.
Seth Taylor led CCU through the first day of action finishing the day with a four-over 148 (77-71) to end the day tied for 10th.
Tyler Gray and
Garrett Cooper are tied for 22nd with a seven-over, 151. Cooper shot a one-under 71 in the second round after scoring an eight over 80 in the first round. Gray carded his 151 with rounds of 79-72.
Connor Newton finished his day of action in 54th place after a two-round score of 16-over, 160 (80-80).
Trace McDonald and
Trey Crenshaw each played a round in Sunday's action. McDonald played in the first round and shot a 17-over 89, and Crenshaw finished the second round with a four-over, 76.
Little Rock holds a two-stroke lead (+6, 582) over Georgia Southern (+8, 584) after the first two rounds. UTA (+18, 594), Georgia State (+24, 600), and ULM (+25, 601) round out the top five.
Appalachian State is just one shot back of ULM after finishing the day with a +26, 602, with South Alabama (+29, 605) is just one stroke in front of the Chants. Louisiana and Arkansas State are tied for ninth at 35-over, 611. Texas State (+37, 613) and Troy (+39, 615) round out the field.
