Alex Spillum sign deals as undrafted free agents following the 2022 NFL Draft.
For only the second time in Coastal Carolina football history, the Chanticleers had two players selected in the NFL Draft as
Isaiah Likely was chosen in the fourth round by the Baltimore Ravens while
Jeffrey Gunter was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round.

C.J. Brewer
New York Jets – Mini-Camp Invite
A 2021 Pro Football Network (PFN) All-American honorable mention, 2020 Associated Press (AP) All-America third-team selection, and 2020 Phil Steele Honorable Mention All-American, Brewer was also a three-time All-Sun Belt honoree, earning first-team honors in both 2020 and 2021 and third-team accolades in 2019.
In his five years at Coastal, the two-time team captain played in 58 games. He totaled 230 tackles, including 90 solo stops and 140 assisted tackles, along with 32.5 tackles-for-loss and 16.0 sacks. He also added one interception, seven pass breakups, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and caught a touchdown pass in the Chants' first-ever win over a Power-5 program in Kansas in 2020.
His 230 career tackles rank eighth all-time in CCU history, while his 140 assisted tackles are fifth in Coastal's career record books. He also ranks fifth all-time in career sacks with 16.0, fifth in tackles-for-loss with 32.5, and third in quarterback hurries with 20.
Kameron Brown
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Mini-Camp Invite
A 2021 All-Sun Belt honorable mention selection and three-time All-Big South second-team honoree during his time at Charleston Southern,
Kameron Brown wrapped up his collegiate career at the 2022 Tropical Bowl in Orlando, Fla.
In his two years at CCU, Brown played in 25 games at wide receiver. He hauled in 56 catches for 911 yards and eight touchdowns. After catching 20 passes for 306 yards and three scores in 2020, helping lead the Chanticleers to their first-ever Sun Belt Conference Championship, he caught 36 passes for 605 yards and five touchdowns in 2021.
His 16.3 yards per catch average in his Coastal career ranks fifth all-time in CCU history.
In his collegiate career at both Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina, Brown had 154 receptions for 2,567 receiving yards, and 26 receiving touchdowns.
Derick Bush
Chicago Bears – Mini-Camp Invite
A three-year starter for the Chanticleers' "Black Swarm" defense, Bush played in 45 games in the defensive secondary.
In his four years at Coastal, the Arizona native, tallied 135 total tackles, including 83 solo stops. He added 7.0 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sacks, four interceptions, 19 passes defended, and one fumble recovery.
His 15 career pass breakups and 19 career passes defended both rank in the top 15 in Coastal's career record books.
Jaivon Heiligh
Cincinnati Bengals – Undrafted Free Agent
Coastal Carolina's all-time career receiving yards leader, Heiligh was a 2021 Phil Steele All-American Honorable Mention and a two-time Biletnikoff Award watch list member. He was also a four-time All-Sun Belt honoree, earning first-team honors as a wide receiver in both 2020 and 2021, third-team recognition as a return specialist in 2021, and honorable mention accolades in 2019, and played in the 2022 East-West Shrine Bowl.
Heiligh finished his four-year career at CCU as the program's leading receiver. He played in 49 games, setting program records with 191 catches for a program-record 2,825 receiving yards. He hauled in 22 touchdown passes and averaged 14.8 yards per catch for his career. His 11 career 100-yard receiving games are the most in school history, while his 22 career touchdowns rank fourth all-time in Coastal's record books.
Heiligh set the Cure Bowl record in 2020 with 13 catches and 178 receiving yards, as the 13 catches is also a CCU single-game record.
Last season in 2021, he totaled 66 catches for 1,128 yards, becoming just the second Chanticleer to record a 1,000-receiving yard season and the most receiving yards in a single season.
Shermari Jones
Cincinnati Bengals – Undrafted Free Agent
Recognized by Pro Football Network (PFN) as the Sun Belt RB of the Year and picking up first-team all-conference honors from PFN, Phil Steele, and Pro Football Focus (PFF) in 2021, Jones also earned a spot on the 2021 All-Sun Belt first team.
Jones, who played in the 2022 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, ran for 1,040 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior year in 2021, averaging 6.54 yards per carry. His 6.54 yards per rush on the season led the Sun Belt and ranked eighth nationally, while his 13 rushing touchdowns and 1,040 rushing yards both ranked second in the Sun Belt.
In his two years in the backfield at CCU, Jones played in 23 games. He carried the ball 243 times for 1,438 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 28 yards and returned eight kickoffs for 159 yards.
Silas Kelly
Cleveland Browns – Undrafted Free Agent
A two-time co-captain and the 2020 Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year, Kelly is a four-time All-Sun Belt selection, earning first-team honors in 2021, second-team accolades in 2020, and honorable mention recognition in 2017 and 2018.
In 2021, Kelly led the Chants and ranked third in the Sun Belt with 110 total tackles and an average of 8.5 per game. He finished the season with 8.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, and a SportsCenter Top-10 (No. 3) interception at South Alabama (Nov. 26).
Kelly, who played in the 2022 Hula Bowl Senior All-Star Game, became just the third Chant in program history to total 300 career tackles, finishing his career with 340 career tackles which rank third all-time in CCU history. His 160 solo tackles and 180 assisted tackles both rank third in CCU's career record books, while his 10.0 sacks rank ninth and 24.5 tackles-for-loss rank 10th all-time.
Kelly was recently voted by his peers as the 2022 Presidential Student-Athlete of the Year and is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, and a member of the 2022 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Society.
Alex Spillum
Green Bay Packers – Mini-Camp Invite
A starter on the backline of the "Black Swarm" defense, Spillum was a two-time All-Sun Belt third-team selection and picked up all-conference honors from Phil Steele in both 2020 and 2021.
A three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection for his work in the classroom, Spillum totaled 64 tackles, including 30 solo tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, five pass breakups, and two blocked kicks in 2021.
In his four years on the "Surf Turf", Spillum played in 46 games. He tallied 184 tackles, including 101 solo stops and 83 assisted tackles, to go along with 5.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sacks, seven interceptions, 17 passes defended, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks.
In the second quarter of the Chants' 49-22 home win over the Kansas Jayhawks in 2021, Spillum blocked a punt attempt and recovered it in the end zone to help push the Chants to the win.
