CONWAY, S.C. – Sporting full pads for the first time since playing a full intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon, the Chanticleers returned to the Fowler Turf Field for practice No. 11 of preseason fall camp.

On a cool Tuesday morning, the Chants opened up the two-and-a-half hour practice with an emphasis on moving "4WARD". 

Following group position work and team stretch, the Chants worked on special teams for six periods working on every aspect of special teams from punts and field goals to two-point conversions.

The offense and defense then transitioned to 1-on-1 group work at the skill positions and head-to-head work along the offensive and defensive lines for two periods before splitting back into position groups and working on individual skills and technique work.

The Chants then wrapped up practice with three more periods of group work, going offense versus defense in 7-on-7 drills, prior to four periods of teamwork pitting the offense versus defense in game-like situations such as second and long, third downs, and fourth and short yardage.

At the end of practice, the players had a chance to get out of conditioning with a "Big Man Punt Return Challenge". One offensive lineman and one defensive lineman were chosen to attempt to catch a punt with the reward being the cancellation of the end of practice conditioning. While the defense represented with a clean catch on their attempt, the offense was unable to make the grab and, thus the Tuesday session ended with two periods of conditioning.

Coastal will kick off the 2022 football season at home on Saturday, Sept. 3, versus Army at 7 p.m. ET.
