Coastal to begin Sun Belt play at No. 23 West Virginia, Friday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's soccer program fell at home to the High Point Panthers 2-1 on Sunday night at the CCU Soccer Stadium.

With the loss, the Chanticleers dropped to 2-2-1 overall, while the Panthers improved to 2-2-1 overall as well with the victory.

High Point used two second-half goals to hand Coastal just their second loss of the season.

In the 82nd minute, the Chants' Jonah Stekly was called for a foul inside the penalty box, awarding the Panthers a penalty kick which Kaya Ignacio converted to level the score at 1-1.

High Point took the lead just two minutes later as Amaya Jefferson sent a corner kick into the box that Noah Holmes put into the back of the net to give the Panthers a 2-1 advantage in the 84th minute.

Coastal Carolina found the advantage in total shots at 9-8 (4-3 SOG), while also tallying a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. In goal, High Point recorded three saves to the Chants one stop.
