Coastal Carolina Volleyball to Host the College of Charleston

Chanticleers will play their home opener on Tuesday night

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina volleyball team will return to the HTC Center for the Chanticleers first home match of the year versus the College of Charleston on Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Conway, S.C.
 
Coastal will meet the College of Charleston Cougars for the 45th time while the Cougars hold a 30-14 overall series lead over CCU as the Chants earned a 3-0 road win last Saturday at the College of Charleston Invitational.

ABOUT COASTAL
 
The Chanticleers are 6-3 on the season, having won two of three matches in the CofC Invitational. Coastal dropped its opening match of the weekend last Friday, falling to the Wofford Terriers 3-2 in five sets before rebounding to pick up back-to-back wins over Incarnate Word (3-1) and host College of Charleston (3-0) last Saturday.
 
Sophomore Agata Lesiak and super senior Paulina Perez Rosas lead the team with 86 and 81 kills, respectively, while senior Brigitta Petrenko has totaled 273 assists on the year to go along with 32 kills and 15 service aces.
 
Defensively, Coastal Carolina has totaled 72 total blocks led by super senior Christina Nance and her 27 blocks, while redshirt junior Rebeka Fucka has 17 blocks. Defensive specialist Lina Perugini has 144 digs on the year.
 
ABOUT COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
 
The College of Charleston Cougars enter play at 3-6 on the year with the victories coming against Fresno State, The Citadel, and UIW and the losses have come by way of Rutgers, Texas Tech, Georgia, Charlotte, Wofford, and CCU.
 
Gabi Bailey (76), Lexi Wierzbicki (71), Anna Smith (49), Claire Campbell (49), and Emma Faulk (42) lead the Cougars' offensive attack with 40 or more kills each. Sofie Vogel has 10 service aces, while Jasmin Goei and Emma Appleman have aided 148 and 127 points, respectively.
 
On the defensive side, Falk and Campbell have 24 and 16 blocks, respectively, as Tynley Smeltzer (70), Bailey (64), Chandler Manusky (56), Smith (44), and Appleman (40) have more than 40 digs apiece.
