CONWAY, S.C. – Fresh off its first victory of the 2022 season, the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team returns to the CCU Soccer Stadium to kick off Sun Belt Conference play as the Chanticleers host James Madison on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. 
 
CCU enters the match 1-4-2 overall, while JMU sits at 4-2-2 overall.
 
COASTAL VS. JAMES MADISON
Friday's matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between Coastal Carolina and James Madison on the pitch.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Chants picked up their first win of the 2022 season last Sunday at Stetson. 
 
The difference maker came in the 66th minute, as Coastal's 
Rose Behrmann played a low corner kick towards the box that deflected off a foot of a Stetson defender and into the back of the net for an own goal.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper 
Hope Morrow earned the win in her first action of the season, totaling six saves in the shutout.
 
Stetson outshot the Chants 14-5 on the match, including a 6-0 edge in shots on goal. The Chants held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks and 6-0 in saves.
 
CHANT TALK 
	- Megan Brouse leads Coastal Carolina with five goals and one assist (11 points), while Julia Ziegenfuss and Behrmann have each tallied a goal. Taylor Tolson and Ziegenfuss lead the Chants with two helpers each, while Brouse and Tori Carnevale have also added an assist this season.
 
	- In goal, Katelyn Kellogg has started five matches for the Chanticleers this season, logging 540:00 minutes and recording 22 total saves (.611). Fellow keeper Morrow picked up her first minutes in goal on the road at Stetson, as the sophomore saw 90 minutes of action and recorded six saves. 
 
SCOUTING THE DUKES
	- All nine of James Madison's goals have come from four key pieces to the offense, headlined by sophomore Amanda Attanasi with four goals and two assists (10 points). Lidia Nduka and Sophia Verrecchia each have added two goals, while Suwaibatu Mohammed has notched one. 
 
	- Redshirt junior Brittany Munson has twice been named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season on Aug. 23 and Aug. 30. 
 
	- After finishing the 2021 season at 9-9-7 overall and 6-3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play, James Madison was picked to finish second in the 2022 Sun Belt Conference East Division preseason poll. The Dukes earned 74 total points and one first-place vote behind another conference newcomer in Old Dominion.
