Women’s Tennis Posts Strong Day at CSU Invitational

Chanticleers will continue fall play at the Lynn Stevens Memorial Invite in October

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team wrapped up its opening weekend of fall play by posting nine wins over the final day of the CSU Invitational on Saturday in Charleston, S.C.

The Chants opened the day by taking three of the four matches in doubles play versus the College of Charleston. The tandem of Lilie Steryous and Kata Foldeak won 6-2 on court No. 2, while the team of Tatum Burger and Anna Babayan was victorious on court No. 3 by a score of 6-3. The duo of Megan Hopton and Isabella Weatherhead capped the match with a 6-2 win at the No. 4 flight.

After playing doubles versus host Charleston Southern with the team of Hopton and Weatherhead winning 6-3 at the No. 4 flight, the Chants recorded six wins in singles action versus Wofford.

Victoire De Samucewicz bounced back from a second-set loss to win 7-5, 3-6, 10-3 at the No. 1 flight, while Steryous earned a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win on court No. 2. Burger was victories at 6-0, 6-4 on court No. 3, while Foldeak and Jesse Hollins both won in straight sets by scores of 7-5, 6-3 and 6-1, 6-4, respectively.

The Chanticleers will return to action on Oct. 7-8 to host the Lynn Stevens Memorial Invite at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
