Women's Soccer Hosts Campbell on Sunday

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team closes out its two-game home stand on Sunday, Sept. 4 as the Chanticleers host former Big South foe Campbell at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
 
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. ET on Sunday. 
 

CCU enters the match sitting at 0-2-2 overall while the Camels are 1-3-1 overall. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Coastal Carolina battled Charleston Southern to an even 2-2 draw on Wednesday night at the CCU Soccer Stadium. Senior Megan Brouse tallied her first brace of the season, as the Phoenix, Ariz., native notched two goals for the Chants. 
 
CSU took an early lead 1-0 in the 14th minute, as Bri Robinson picked up a loose ball in the box that she was able to get past Coastal goalkeeper Katelyn Kellogg
 
Brouse knotted the score up at 1-1 in the 31st minute on a long ball from Taylor Tolson to put the home team on the scoreboard before halftime. She went on to add her second tally of the night in the 51st minute, as she picked up a pass from Julia Ziegenfuss that Brouse was able to get around the Bucs' goalkeeper to put Coastal up 2-1.
 
With just eight minutes remaining in the contest, CSU's Gracen Beilstein sent a high-arching shot over a leaping Kellogg and created the 2-2 scoreline in the 82nd minute.
 
SCOUTING THE CAMELS
Campbell picked up its first win of the young season against Richmond on Thursday, Sept. 1, a 3-0 victory in Buies Creek. Kaleigh Backlund picked up a brace as she netted two goals and Olivia Neal picked tallied the third. 
 
The Camels are led by Backlund with two goals (four points), while Jackie Richards, Jessica Donald, and Olivia Neal have each recorded a goal for Campbell this season. 
 
After finishing the 2021 season, 12-4-2 overall and 9-1-0 in Big South play Campbell was picked to finish first earning seven first-place votes at 97 total points. Senior Jessica Donald was named the preseason offensive player of the year while senior Delaney Baumbick picked up the preseason defensive player of the year honor.
