Coastal Faces Off Against Troy on Saturday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will face off against the Troy Trojans at 6 p.m. ET on Oct.14 in Troy, Ala. 
 
Chant Talk 
  • Coastal has a 3-9-1, 0-5-1 Sun Belt record this season. 
  • Both teams are on the hunt for their first conference win of the year. 
  • Lou Martinet is a player to watch as she has recorded points in four of the last seven matches and  leads the team with four goals. 
  • The Chants will be looking to snap their four-match losing streak and will be searching for their first road  win of the season. 
  • The Chants have been outshot 203-81 on the year and they average 6.2 shots per game compared to Troy's 11.2. 
 
Last Time Out 
  • CCU was defeated 2-1 by the Georgia Southern Eagles on Oct.8. 
  • The Chants got off to an early lead when Martinet bagged her fourth goal of the year in the 22nd minute of the match. 
  • The Eagles answered back less than a minute later when Megan Przybysz found Bri Conley's feet off a freekick and she netted the second goal of the match to level the score at 1-1. 
  • Georgia Southern's Simone Timm scored the game-winner in the 71st minute and the Eagles defense refused to let the Chants get off a single shot in the second frame to secure the 2-1 win. 
  • It was a physical contest with each team picking up 14 fouls while the Chants led 2-0 in yellow cards. 
Scouting the Opponent 
  • Troy has a 5-8-1, 0-5-1 Sun Belt record on the season and is sitting on a three-match losing streak after falling to South Alabama, Arkansas State, and Marshall. 
  • The Trojans lead the Sun Belt with 95 corner kicks and keeper Kelley Rubie places ninth with a 1.009 goals-against average. 
  • 10 different players have notched a goal for the Trojans, but Jordan Stack leads the way with three goals to her name. 
  • The Trojans started the season strong winning five of their first six matches but have been going through a dry spell with their last win coming on Sept. 3 over Alabama State. 
History Against 
  • CCU has a 5-2-0 all-time record versus Troy. 
  • The Chants won the first five matches in the series while the Trojans have won the last two. 
  • Both teams have recorded two shutouts and the Chants lead 10-6 in goals scored over their seven encounters. 
  • Coastal has an even 2-2 record while on the road versus the Trojans. 
  • Saturday marks CCU's third consecutive trip to Troy.
