DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 4-under 284 in Sunday's first round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate, finishing the opening 18 holes in second place at the Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island, S.C.
 
The Chants were led by Seth Taylor (34-35) who finished the first round tied for fourth after carding a three-under 69. Taylor had five birdies to go with 11 pars and two bogeys.
 
Jack Lee (37-34) was also under-par today with a one-under 71. He also had five birdies on the day including four consecutive birdies on holes 10 through 13. He finished the day tied for 13th.
 
Owen Kim (36-36) and Garrett Cooper (36-36) are tied for 22nd with an even-par 72, while Ludvig Eriksson (39-40) is tied for 80th at seven-over 79.
 
Middle Tennessee is the first-round leader at five-under 283, just one stroke in front of the Chants four-under 284. VCU and South Carolina are tied for third after each finished the day with a three-under 285, while the College of Charleston rounded out the top five with a two-under 286.
 
ULM finished sixth at one-under 287 followed by Lipscomb in seventh with a +2 290. Stetson, Seton Hall, and UNCW finished tied for eighth at three-over 291. Southern Miss and Maryland finished tied for 11th with a four-over 292, while Francis Marion finished 13th with a five-over 293.
 
The rest of the field includes Campbell (+8, 296), Charleston Southern (+9, 297), Arkansas State (+14, 302), Mercer (+18, 306), and USC Upstate (+23, 311).
