Men's Golf Finishes Tied for Sixth at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate

Taylor finishes with a four-under par score
DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University men's golf team shot a five-over 293 in Tuesday's final round of the Daniel Island Intercollegiate, finishing in a tie for sixth place with a two-over 866 (284-289-293) at the Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island, S.C.
Seth Taylor played all three rounds in par-or-better fashion to finish with a four-under 212 (69-72-71). The graduate student paced the Chanticleers with a tie for sixth. Taylor finished the event tied for fifth in par 3 scoring with a 2.92 scoring average, while his 3.93 scoring average on the par 4s was tied for seventh. Taylor also finished with 11 total birdies which was tied for the ninth most in the tournament.
Freshman Jack Lee had another solid performance in carding an even-par 216 (71-70-75) which saw him finish tied for 15th. He finished the three rounds with a 3.00 stroke average on the par 3 holes, which was tied for the seventh best par 3 scoring, and his team-best 12 birdies was tied for fifth-best in the event.
Garrett Cooper finished the tournament tied for 37th after scoring a four-over 220 (72-76-72), while Owen Kim finished tied for 65th with a 12-over 228 (72-81-75), and Ludvig Eriksson finished tied for 84th with a 20-over 236 (79-71-86).
Cooper had a team-best 39 pars, which was tied for the seventh most pars for the three-day event.
Middle Tennessee led from start-to-finish in picking up the Daniel Island Intercollegiate Championship. The Blue Raiders finished with a 10-under 854 (283-385-286) and finished two strokes ahead of second-place VCU which finished eight-under 856 (285-286-285). South Carolina finished third at seven-under 857 (285-284-288), with ULM one stroke back with a six-under 858 (287-286-285), and Stetson finishing fifth at four-under 860 (291-282-287).
Fellow Sun Belt Conference member Arkansas State (302-274-290) matched the Chants' two-over 866 to tie for sixth, while Lipscomb (290-287-292) and the College of Charleston (286-289-294) tied for eighth at five-over 869. Seton Hall rounded out the top 10 finishers at 12-over 876 (291-288-297).
The rest of the field included UNCW (+20, 884), Campbell (+28, 892), Charleston Southern (+30, 894), Southern Miss (+32, 896), Francis Marion (+34, 898), Maryland (+38, 902), Mercer (+49, 913), and USC Upstate (+64, 928).
The Chants have now completed play for the fall schedule. CCU will be back in action March 9-11 at The Hayt, which will be played at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
