Karg picks up another top-10 finish

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished seventh at the Hurricane Invitational with an even-par 864 (284-287-293) after shooting a five-over 293 in Tuesday's final round at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Fla.

Hannah Karg finished the event tied for eighth after carding a three-round total of four-under 212 (69-69-74). Over her three rounds she scored a team-best 11 birdies and added 34 pars on her way to a tie for eighth place. Karg's birdie total was tied for the 15th most birdies for the tournament and her 3.00 scoring average on par 3s was tied for the 11th best in the event, while her 4.67 scoring average on the par 5s was tied for the 10th best scoring average.

Sara Sarrion had two sup-par rounds on her way to a tie for 26th with a one-over 217 (77-69-71), while Varatkarn Kunkaew finished tied for 35th with a three-over 219 (74-73-72). Varatkarn tied for the third-most pars in the tournament with 42, while Sarrion's 40 pars tied her for the sixth-most pars.

Luisa Gibson finished tied for 38th with a four-over 220 (68-76-76), while Isabella Spinazze finished 62nd with a 13-over 229 (73-78-78).

Host Miami ran away with its own tournament finishing 27-under par 837 (278-278-281). Oklahoma was the closest competition for the Hurricanes, finishing in second with a 17-under 847 (275-288-284). South Florida finished third at 11-under 853 (283-283-287), while Texas State was fourth at six-under 858 (282-287-289). Augusta rounded out the top five at five-under 859 (288-282-289).

Colorado State scored the best round of the day with an eight-under 280. The total moved them up three spots, just two strokes in front of the Chants at two-under 862 (292-290-280). Following the seventh-place Chants was the College of Charleston at one-over 865 (285-289-291), with Colorado in ninth at eight-over 872 (288-293-291), and BYU in 10th at 17-over 881 (297-289-295).

The rest of the field included UNLV (+22, 886) and FIU (+24, 888).

The Hurricane Invitational completed fall competition for the Chants who will be back in action on Feb. 12-13 at the Sea Best Invitational at the San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
