
Chants Take on Georgia Southern on Sunday

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team will face the Georgia Southern Eagles at the CCU Soccer Stadium on Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. ET.

- Julia Ziegenfuss is not afraid to take aim on goal as she places second on the team with 16 shots on the season. She was also the only Coastal player to fire a shot on goal last time out versus Texas State.
- Vivienne Carr leads the Sun Belt and is 30th in the nation with 5.42 saves per game. Carr recorded a career-high 10 saves versus South Carolina and has made seven saves on three occasions including last time out versus Texas State.
- CCU lost to the Texas State Bobcats 4-0 on Thursday night.
- The Bobcats scored the first goal of the night in the 25th minute when Olivia Wright volleyed the ball into the net from close range to make the score 1-0.
- The Chants conceded another goal just five minutes into the second frame to make the score 2-0.
- CCU gave up its first penalty of the year in the 56th minute and the Bobcats capitalized to make the score 3-0.
- One more goal came in the 82nd minute when Wright scored her second goal of the night to give the Bobcats a 4-0.
- Coastal was outshot 19-4 on the night and Carr was forced to make seven saves to Texas State's two.
- Georgia Southern has a 6-5-1, 1-3-0 record on the season and places 12th in the Sun Belt.
- The Eagles have an even 3-3 away record and have lost their last two matches on the road to App State and South Alabama.
- Last time out, the Eagles picked up their first conference win when they beat Louisiana 3-1.
- Junior Smith Cathey leads the team with four goals, which includes one game-winner to beat the University of Miami.
- Simone Timm will be one to watch for the Eagles as she is atop the team with 10 points after scoring three goals and tallying four assists.
- CCU has an 8-6-2 record versus Georgia Southern.
- The Chants have won six of the last 10 matchups and are currently sitting on a two-match losing streak to the Eagles.
- Coastal fell 3-0 last time out; this was the sixth shutout loss that the Chants have been dealt by the Eagles.
