JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. – The Coastal Carolina University's men's golf team shot a 2-under 286 in Sunday's opening round at the Bank of Tennessee Invitational, played at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges.
Graduate student
Seth Taylor led a total of four under-par Chanticleers with a two-under 70, carding a one-under 35 on both the front and back nine. He enters Monday's second round tied for 11th place.
Garrett Cooper (35-36),
Ludvig Eriksson (36-35), and
Connor Bennink (36-35), playing as an individual are tied for 15th after each carded a one-under 71 in the opening round.
Jack Lee (34-40) and
Owen Kim (39-35) are tied for 47th at two-over 74.
The par-72, 7,118-yard Blackthorn Club saw six of the teams shoot par or better in Sunday's action, led by Furman's event-leading 10-under 278. Charlotte and East Tennessee State are tied for second at five-under 283, while Augusta is three-under 285, just one shot in front of CCU's two-under 286.
Georgia Southern is sixth with an even-par 288, followed by Loyola Marymount (+1, 289) and Virginia Tech (+2, 290). The College of Charleston, Rutgers, Florida Gulf Coast, and Penn State are tied for ninth after scoring a three-over 291.
The rest of the field includes Louisiana Tech (+5, 293), Toledo (+6, 294), and Liberty (+11, 299).
