Coastal Carolina to Meet UNCG on Hardwood on Wednesday

Women’s basketball seeks fifth straight win

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's basketball team will travel to Greensboro, N.C., for a matchup with the UNCG Spartans on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at the Fleming Gymnasium and will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Chanticleers won their fifth-straight over the UNCW Seahawks with a 73-58 road win. Coastal's Makaila Cange led the Chants offense with 24 points, while Arin Freeman was the only other Chant in double digit scoring with 10 points. Riley Stack finished the afternoon with a career-high five blocked shots with Alancia Ramsey grabbing nine rebounds.
 
HISTORY BETWEEN COASTAL AND UNCG
Coastal Carolina trails in the all-time series 13-9 that dates back to January 1987. With a road win on Wednesday, the Chanticleers would extend their longest winning streak in the series to four consecutive wins, as CCU claimed a 53-41 home win in the last meeting on Nov. 26, 2021.
 
ABOUT COASTAL
Coastal Carolina enter play riding a four-game winning streak and are 4-2 on the year. The Chants are averaging 66.2 points per game while shooting 37.9 percent from the field and 27.3 percent from three-point range. Defensively, Coastal has allowed 70.5 points per game, while opponents have a 43.4 shooting percentage from the floor and 34.9 percentage from behind the three-point arc. The Chanticleers have outrebounded their opponents 253-220.
 
Coastal is paced by Deaja Richardson and Cange who average 16.5 and 12.7 points per game, respectively, while Freeman (10.3) is averaging just over 10 points per contest. Ramsey has averaged 7.7 points per contest and leads the team with 1002 rebounds per game. Cange has grabbed 39 boards for a 6.4 rebounds per game average.
 
ABOUT UNCG
UNCG enters the week with a 5-2 overall record. The Spartans are averaging 67.4 points per contest while shooting 42.2 percent from the floor and 29.9 percent from three-point range. As a team, UNC Greensboro has won the rebound battle 274-247. Defensively, UNCG has allowed just 50.1 points per contest and its opponents to shoot 34.7 percent from the field and just 21.3 percent from behind the arch.
 
Ayanna Khalfani and Jayde Gamble are the only Spartans in double digit scoring with 11.9 and 10.7 points per game, respectively, while Isys Grady is averaging 9.7 points per contest. UNCG's top rebounder is Khalis Cain with 7.7 boards per game while Khalfani has grabbed 6.9 rebounds per game.
