Sandy Chants Picked Second in Inaugural Sun Belt Season

Coastal Carolina returns 11 players who saw action in 2022
NEW ORLEANS – The Coastal Carolina beach volleyball team was picked to finish second in the inaugural 2023 Sun Belt Beach Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll, as voted upon by the league's eight coaches, it was announced by the conference office in New Orleans, La.
The Chanticleers garnered 54 points and were selected to finish right behind Georgia State, who received seven first-place votes for 63 points. UNCW (39), College of Charleston (34), and Southern Miss (33) rounded out the top five with Southern Miss receiving the one first-place vote as well.
Stephen F. Austin (28), ULM (19), and Mercer (18) wrapped up the preseason poll.
Coastal Carolina returns 11 players last year's team, including Raychel Ehlers who was named to the 2022 Conference USA All-Freshman team. Also returning are Irena Drobnjak, Martine Kragholm, and Sarah Riedell who all saw action in the No. 1 flight last season.
Joining the team this season are freshmen Hannah Smith, Sydney Schwanbeck, Emma Kunaus, and Celia Ryan, along with Lina Perugini and Lauren Malone from the indoor volleyball team.
