Chants are now 3-0 in Sun Belt play

CONWAY, S.C. – Highlighted by a number of career milestones, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis defeated the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 4-1 in Sun Belt Conference play to extend their winning streak to 11 consecutive matches.

With the win, the Chants improved to 11-4 overall and 3-0 in SBC play.

CCU's Tatum Burger recorded her 100th collegiate win in doubles and singles play combined with a win at the No. 2 doubles spot on Saturday, while Megan Hopton picked up her 75th career win over her collegiate career with her doubles victory.

With her wins in both doubles and singles play on Saturday, Anna Babayan recorded her 49th and 50th career collegiate wins over combined doubles and singles play.

The Chanticleers opened the match with a sweep in doubles play to take an early 1-0 match lead.

CCU's tandem of Jesse Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz cruised to a 6-2 win over Lucie Raquin and Cristina Tchanichev on court No. 3, while the pair of Burger and Lilie Steryous held on for a 6-4 victory on court No. 2 over Momoko Yoshimura and Angel Santiago.

The Chants' top pair of Babayan and Hopton registered their 11th-straight by holding off Louisiana's Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat 7-5 on court No. 1 to complete the doubles sweep.

CCU carried over the momentum in singles play as the reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week Babayan cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 straight-set win on court No. 2 to put the home team up 2-0 in the match.

For the first time in over a month, CCU's Hopton was defeated in singles play, as the super senior and graduate student had her singles winning streak snapped at eight-straight wins with a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Berrat on court No. 3.

With a 2-1 lead, the Chants scored the next two wins to end the match on top 4-1.

Burger picked up the first of those two wins with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Tchanichev on court No. 4, while Steryous held off Santiago for a 6-4, 6-2 win on court No. 6 to seal the win.

Coastal will return turn around to host Texas State on Sunday, March 26. The match has been moved up to an 8 a.m. ET start at the Stevens Tennis Complex due to the forecast of inclement weather.
