CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will spend their spring break in the Sunshine State, as the men's tennis team will take on North Florida on Tuesday, March 7, in Jacksonville, Fla., and Stetson on Wednesday, March 8, in DeLand, Fla.
The Chanticleers enter the week at 8-2 overall and have won each of their last three matches with wins over Campbell (Feb. 22), UNCG (Feb. 24), and N.C. Central (March 4).
Leading the charge the last two weeks has been
Carlos Berna Ruiz, who has won three consecutive singles bouts at the top spot, while
Ryuya Ata,
Guilherme Toresan,
Neil O'Connor,
Rivers Cahill, and
Jesus Garcia have all been victorious in each of their last two singles matches.
In doubles play, the Chants have earned the doubles point in each of their last two matches, as the team of Toresan and
Lucas Wayenburg has won three-straight matches as a team.
North Florida enters the week at 4-3 overall but 3-0 on its home court this season. The Ospreys have scored home wins over Wofford (Feb. 4), Georgia State (Feb. 12), and the College of Charleston (Feb. 25), but is coming off a 4-1 loss on the road at Georgia Southern (March 2) last week.
Stetson is 8-4 overall this season and has posted a record of 5-1 at home, including wins over Georgia State (Jan. 20), Florida Atlantic (Feb. 10), and Mercer (Feb. 11). The Hatters are coming off back-to-back losses on the road at Georgia Southern (Feb. 19) and FGCU (March 2).
