Men’s Tennis to Play Two Matches in the Peach State

CCU will take on Georgia Southern and Georgia State this weekend

CONWAY, S.C. – After a week off, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team will hit the road for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend in the Peach State. The Chanticleers will first take on Georgia State on Sunday, April 2, at noon ET before turning around to face off with Georgia Southern on Monday, April 3, at 1 p.m. ET.
 
The Chanticleers are 10-6 overall this season and 1-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
 
Two weeks ago, the Chanticleers split a pair of SBC matches at home, defeating Southern Miss by a score of 5-2 (March 16) and suffering a 6-1 loss to Louisiana (March 18).
 
CCU's duo of Ryuya Ata and Guilherme Toresan were victorious at the No. 3 doubles spot last time out versus the Ragin' Cajuns and are riding a two-match winning streak into play this weekend.
 
Ata, who also won his singles bout versus Louisiana at the No. 4 spot, is tied with fellow Chants Carlos Berna Ruiz and Toresan with a team-high eight singles wins on the season.
 
Georgia State, who will play at Charlotte on Saturday, April 1, in non-conference play, is 3-13 overall on the season and 0-3 in the Sun Belt.
 
The Panthers have dropped five-straight matches, including a pair of road losses at James Madison (March 24) and No. 71 Old Dominion (March 25) last weekend.
 
GSU's last win came at home over Kennesaw State (7-0) on March 5.
 
Georgia Southern enters the weekend at 13-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, having suffered a 4-2 road loss at No. 71 Old Dominion (March 26) last time out.
 
Prior to the loss to the Monarchs, the Eagles had won 10-straight matches, which included wins over Stetson (Feb. 19), South Carolina State (Feb. 20), Furman (Feb. 25), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 26), North Florida (March 2), Mercer (March 4), UAB (March 5), Charlotte (March 11), Georgia State (March 18), and James Madison (March 25).
