Chants Return Home to Host No. 31 ODU and JMU in Conference Action

Women’s tennis team is 9-1 at home this season
CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team will return home for two Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend, April 15-16, at the Stevens Tennis Complex. The Chanticleers will host No. 31 nationally-ranked Old Dominion on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET and then turn around to welcome James Madison on Sunday at 10 a.m. ET.
The Chanticleers enter the weekend at 15-5 overall and 7-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
This season, Coastal is 9-1 on its home courts and has won nine consecutive home matches, with the lone loss coming back in the home opener versus Charleston Southern on Feb. 14.
After having their winning streak snapped at 12 consecutive wins with a 4-3 loss at South Alabama on April 1, the Chanticleers have won three-straight matches with road wins at Southern Miss (April 2), ULM (April 7), and Arkansas State (April 8).
While six Chants are on multi-match winning streaks entering the weekend, super senior Tatum Burger leads the team with 12 singles victories on the season and has gone 7-2 over her last 10 matches.
Fellow Chant Jesse Hollins is 11-2 overall on the year and is on an 11-match win streak, while Anna Babayan is 11-6 on the season in singles action, with 10 of her 11 wins coming at the No. 2 singles position.
In doubles play, the team of Babayan and Megan Hopton are 15-5 overall on the season at the No. 1 spot, while the duo of Hollins and Victoire De Samucewicz has posted a record of 11-2 on the year at the No. 3 position.
Not far behind is the tandem of Burger and Lilie Steryous, as the first-year pairing is 10-4 on the spring season at the No. 2 spot and has won four straight matches heading into the weekend of play.
No. 31 Old Dominion comes to Conway, S.C., with a 12-4 overall record and a perfect 7-0 ledger in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Monarchs have won seven consecutive matches, including a 5-2 conference win at then-No. 75 Marshall.
Overall this season, the Monarchs are 5-1 in road matches, with a win at Penn State (Jan. 15), two wins at Wake Forest (Jan. 28 and Feb. 5), and three conference wins at Louisiana (March 10), Texas State (March 12), and Marshall (March 17). The lone loss came at No. 12 Ohio State (Jan. 27).
Like Old Dominion, James Madison enters the weekend undefeated at 7-0 in Sun Belt play. The Dukes, who will play at Georgia Southern on Friday, April 14, are 11-6 overall on the season.
James Madison has been dominant at home this season at 6-1 but is just 5-5 on true road contests. After winning five matches in a row from March 18 to April 2, the Dukes suffered a 4-0 loss versus No. 41 Charlotte on April 6.
