Women's Golf Heads to Daytona Beach for the 2023 Sun Belt Championship

Chants looking for third SBC title
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will be making the annual trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship, scheduled for April 16-18 at the LPGA International Golf Course.
The Chants are looking for their third conference championship since joining the Sun Belt Conference in July 2016. CCU last won the title in 2018 and just missed out on the 2022 title, finishing just four strokes off the lead and in second place.
The 2023 championship will be the first time new Sun Belt Conference members Southern Miss, Old Dominion, James Madison, and Marshall will play in the tournament.
James Madison enters the championship ranked 71st in the latest Golfstat rankings, with ODU 86th, and ULM 87th. CCU is ranked 123rd in the latest rankings.
After losing the top two players at midseason, head coach Katie Quinney has seen her young and inexperienced lineup show solid improvement over the last month of play. She will be looking for continued improvement from her lineup of Sara Sarrion, Luisa Gibson, Clare Gimpel, Isabella Spinazze, Elan Fleetwood, and Maika Llarena at this week's championship.
Sarrion, a sophomore, is leading the Chants with a 74.43 scoring average. She has three top-10 finishes in her last three events, including an individual championship at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate and a fourth-place finish at the Ironwood Invitational.
The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. ET on Sunday, April 16, and will consist of 18 holes of action each day of the event.
