Final tune-up before the SBC Championship
CONWAY – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team will be back on the course for competition this week when they play at the 2023 Ironwood Invitational on April 3-4 at the Ironwood Country Club located in Greenville, N.C.
The Chants will be looking to build on its eighth-place finish last week at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate. The event saw the Chants move up eight spots during the second and third rounds, while sophomore Sara Sarrion shot a five-under 66 on the final day to win the individual championship.
CCU has played in the Ironwood Invitational for several years and finished ninth in the event last season with Sarrion finishing tied for 11th.
East Carolina serves as the annual host of the Ironwood Invitational. In the field with the Chants will be the reigning Ironwood Invitational champion, College of Charleston. The 11-team field also includes Florida Gulf Coast, Howard, James Madison, Jacksonville State, Little Rock, North Florida, Richmond, and UAB.
This is the Chanticleers' final event before the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Women's Golf Championship. The two-day event will see the teams playing 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Tee times on Monday are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. ET, while Tuesday's final round will tee off at 8:15 a.m. ET.
Head coach Katie Quinney has set a lineup that includes the reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Sarrion, along with Luisa Gibson, Isabella Spinazze, Clare Gimpel, and Isabella Galla.
