No. 17 Chanticleers to Kick Off Second Five-Game Road Trip at No. 14 Campbell

Coastal and Campbell will play on both Monday and Tuesday in Buies Creek

CONWAY, S.C. – The No. 17 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will open up its second five-game road swing in the last three weeks with a pair of non-conference road contests at No. 14 Campbell on Monday and Tuesday, April 10-11, in Buies Creek, N.C.

Monday, April 10
6 p.m. ET – CAM - RHP Ty Cummings (0-1, 5.40 ERA) vs. CCU - LHP Levi Huesman (1-3, 7.52 ERA)
 
Tuesday, April 11
4 p.m. ET – CAM - RHP Hunter Loyd (2-3, 5.74 ERA) vs. CCU - LHP Liam Doyle (0-0, 9.75 ERA)

ABOUT THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina is 20-9 overall this season and 9-3 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• CCU has won seven of its last 10 games and is coming off a 2-1 series win over the Georgia Southern Eagles at home on April 6 & 7.
• The Chanticleers will kick off their second five-game road swing in the last three weeks with back-to-back games at Campbell (April 10 & 11). CCU went 4-1 on the last five-game swing, with a midweek road win at North Carolina (March 28) and three wins in Sun Belt play at Georgia State (March 31-April 2).
• As a team, the Chants are hitting .328 overall, which leads the Sun Belt, as 11 different players are hitting over .300 on the season.
• The offense is also first in the Sun Belt in runs (298), doubles (75), RBIs (272), slugging percentage (.567), hit-by-pitch (71), and on-base percentage (.435).
• CCU's pitching staff has struck out 312 batters compared to just 147 walks on the year and leads the Sun Belt with an average of 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings,
 
ABOUT THE CAMELS
• Campbell enters the week at 24-6 overall and 11-1 in Big South Conference play.
• The Fighting Camels are a stellar 12-1 at home this season, with the lone home loss coming to Rutgers (Feb. 19) all the way back on Opening Weekend.
• Since losing to the Chanticleers 12-9 back on March 14 in Conway, S.C., the Fighting Camels have gone 12-3 overall.
• Offensively, the Camels are hitting .319 overall as a team with 68 home runs and 279 RBIs.
• The Camels have 10 different players hitting over .300 on the season and three players in Bryce Arnold (12), Drake Pierson (11), and Jarrod Belbin (10) with double-digit home runs.
• Campbell's pitching staff has posted a 5.02 ERA on the season and is holding its opponents to a .229 batting average over 267.0 innings on the year.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES HISTORY WITH CAMPBELL
• The Chanticleers are 38-18 overall versus Campbell on the baseball diamond, with Coastal earning a 12-9 win over the Camels on March 14 of this year.
• Coastal has won each of the last six games over the Fighting Camels and seven of the last 10 matchups.
• Coastal Carolina and Campbell were both charter members of the Big South Conference when the league was formed in 1983 and competed against each other as conference members from 1983-1994 and then again from 2011-16.
• As Big South Conference foes, the Chanticleers held a 25-9 overall record versus the Fighting Camels.
 
RANK'EM
• For the first time this season, the Chanticleers were ranked in a national top-25 poll on March 27.
• Coastal came in at No. 19 in the D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings and at No. 28 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division I poll in that poll on March 27.
• In the most recent polls that came out on April 3, the Chants were in all six polls - No. 17 (D1Baseball), No. 20 (Perfect Game), No. 20 (NCBWA), No. 21 (USA TODAY Sports coaches poll), No. 22 (Baseball America), and No. 27 (Collegiate Baseball).
• Since being ranked, the Chanticleers have gone 6-2 overall.
 
CAN'T FORGET THE CAMELS
• Coastal Carolina and Campbell were both charter members of the Big South Conference when the league was formed in 1983 and competed against each other as conference members from 1983-1994 and then again from 2011-16.
• As Big South Conference foes, the Chanticleers held a 25-9 overall record versus the Fighting Camels.
• The two schools sit atop the Big South record books for the most conference championships in baseball, with Coastal Carolina leading the way with 14 and Campbell in second with six.
 
DÉJÁ VU
• The Chanticleers will kick off a five-game road swing on Monday and Tuesday, April 10 & 11, at Campbell in Buies Creek, N.C.
• The five-game road trip will see the Chants play two games at Campbell (April 10 & 11) and three games at Old Dominion (April 14-16).
• Coastal had a five-game road trip just a week ago from March 28 to April 4, going 4-1 on the trip with a midweek win at then-No. 13 North Carolina (March 28) and a three-game series sweep at Georgia State (March 31-April 2) in Atlanta, Ga.
• Breaking up the two five-game road swings for the Chanticleers was a three-game series at home with Georgia Southern (April 6 & 7) in Sun Belt Conference play.
• The two five-game road swings are the longest of the season for the Chants, who will have played 10 road games in a span of three weeks.
 
VERSUS RANKED TEAMS
• Coastal has played four nationally-ranked top-25 teams so far this season in No. 21 NC State (Feb. 22), No. 2/5 Wake Forest (March 7), No. 19 Campbell (March 14), and No. 13 North Carolina (March 28).
• The Chanticleers are 3-1 versus top 25 ranked teams this season.
• Coastal suffered a 16-5 midweek home loss to then-No. 21 NC State on Feb. 22 at Springs Brooks Stadium, but since then has won each of its last three games versus ranked foes.
• CCU won a wild one by the score of 13-11 in a midweek home contest versus then-No. 2/5 Wake Forest on March 7 at Springs Brooks Stadium.
• The Chants outslugged then-No. 19 Campbell in a 12-9 win on March 14 in a game that saw a combined seven home runs leave the ballpark.
• The Chanticleers scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to record a 12-7 come-from-behind win on the road at No. 13 North Carolina in midweek action on March 28.
 
OUTSIDE OF THE BELT
• This season, the Chanticleers are 11-6 overall in non-conference play.
• The Chants, who have the 12th-toughest schedule in all of NCAA Division I baseball to date, have midweek wins over ranked foes Wake Forest (March 7), Campbell (March 14), and North Carolina (March 28), a three-game series sweep over Davidson (March 3-5) and a series win over Creighton (Feb. 24-26).
• CCU and Illinois (March 10 & 11) also split a series 1-1, which saw the rubber match washed out.
 
MIDWEEK MATCHUPS
• The Chanticleers have 14 midweek contests scheduled this season with regional teams across South Carolina and North Carolina.
• CCU is 3-3 this season in midweek contests with wins over then-No. 2/5 Wake Forest (13-11), then-No. 19/23 Campbell (12-9), and then-No. 13 North Carolina (12-7).
• The three losses have come to then-No. 21 NC State (16-4), at the College of Charleston (4-3), and at Clemson (16-6).
• Last season, CCU went 6-4 overall in midweek regular season games, including going 4-0 at home.
 
VERSUS THE TAR HEEL STATE IN 2023
• This season, the Chanticleers have fared well against teams from the Tar Heel State.
• The Chanticleers are 5-1 overall versus schools from the state of North Carolina, including having won five-straight contests entering the two contests at Campbell this week.
• CCU suffered a loss to NC State (Feb. 22), but since defeated Davidson (March 3-5) in three games, Wake Forest (March 7), and Campbell (March 14).
